The Adventure Cycling Association provides very useful information.  You can download the pdf version of the following map in their overview webpage.

I'm aiming for the TransAmerica Trail, from east to west.  It is 4253 miles long and takes about 3 months to finish.  If I cannot find enough time during summer, I may skip Astoria or take the Western Express.
